Ben Southall is getting ready to take on yet another adventure. Perhaps best known as the winner of the “Best Job in the World” contest where he was awarded the job of an Island Caretaker, Ben is “a guy who has an intense passion for global travel, adventure and grueling outdoor challenges” – his words.
He and his wife, Sophee, have packed up his Land Rover, Colonel Mustard, for a ten-month overland journey from Singapore to London. They chose this route as a tribute to the First Overland Land Rover expedition from London to Singapore (except in reverse). Two teams from Oxford and Cambridge universities undertook this historic journey in 1955 and now Ben and Sophee will do the same and record and report on what they find. How will these two active bloggers stay connected to the Internet you ask? Well, of course, using an XCom Global mobile hotspot!
“Ben was researching his options and recognized what a perfect fit we were,” said Joe Fennell, Chief Operating Officer (COO), XCom Global, Inc. “We have coverage in all of the countries he plans to visit – and more – and he won’t have to pay for his carrier’s expensive international plan or hotel Wi-Fi or seek out public Wi-Fi that is often a haven for cyber criminals. With an XCom Global mobile hotspot, he’ll have 24/7 secure, high-speed Internet access. We’re excited to be on this journey with him.”
